The Very Group duo recognised as role models in inclusivity

May 21, 2026

The Very Group’s chief people officer, Sarah Willett, and senior category manager, Helen Julian, have been recognised in the 2026 Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Retail Index.

Produced by WiHTL & Diversity in Retail in partnership with The MBS Group, the index recognises 60 individuals, including Sarah and Helen, from across the industry who are championing diversity.

Sarah joined The Very Group in 2009 and is the driving force behind the business’s people strategy, helping to enable growth and high performance. She is committed to diversity and inclusion and actively champions equitable practices that unlock potential and foster a strong sense of belonging.

Having joined The Very Group 12 years ago, Helen currently leads the gaming category team and is the co-chair of the Women at Very (WAVE) colleague network, making her a leading voice in The Very Group’s D&I journey. For Helen, being a Role Model for Inclusion is about showing up authentically and helping to build a culture where differences are celebrated and opportunity is truly equal.

Tea Colaianni, Founder and Chair, WiHTL & Diversity in Retail said: “It has been my genuine privilege to read the personal stories shared in this year’s Role Models for Inclusion Index. This year’s role models span diverse roles, experiences and seniority levels, and each one is an inspiring advocate for positive progress. The impact, resilience and leadership shown nothing short of inspiring. Their work and the way they continue to lift others as they lead has only deepened my own commitment to driving WiHTL & DiR’s mission forward.”

Commenting on the recognition, Sarah Willett said: “It’s an honour to be recognised as a role model for inclusivity alongside so many inspirational people from across the industry. Creating inclusive environments where people feel respected, valued and encouraged to be their authentic selves is something I care deeply about and, alongside the work of our incredible colleagues, Helen and I will continue to make sure D&I remains a focus for The Very Group.”
