Vogue Williams kicks off Very story time with Coram Beanstalk

April 20, 2020

TV presenter, DJ and model Vogue Williams joined Very.co.uk to kick off the first in a series of story time sessions to help keep the little ones entertained and inspired during lockdown.

Held alongside reading charity Coram Beanstalk, Very’s charity partner, the programme will see a range of celebrities reading aloud some of their favourite stories in illustrated videos on the online retailer’s social media channels.

Every week a new story will be available and, shortly afterwards, Coram Beanstalk will suggest some educational follow-up activities parents can try to keep their children entertained that little bit longer.

To launch the very first story time, Vogue Williams read ‘Gringer the Whinger’. Written by Jane Landy and illustrated by Sheena Dempsey, it is the story of a naughty dragon who visits an Irish family.

The Very Group, which operates Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com, will raise £600,000 over the next two years through colleague activities and events, as well as providing industry-leading tech knowledge to help Coram Beanstalk support 40,000 children with one-to-one reading support.

During the coronavirus outbreak, The Very Group is also working closely with NHS hospitals to build support packages for key workers, starting in the North West where the company is head quartered. Items requested and sent include clothing for front-line nurses and care workers to change into as their scrubs are cleaned, and hand cream and other essentials to kit out staff rooms.
